Fence paint and shed paint are essential products that are used to protect all types of wood. To increase the lifespan of your fence, use a shed and fence preserver in either a clear or a wood stain colour. Woodstain and protect is a treatment that helps prevent rotting whilst improving the look andextending the life of your timber product.
Painting your fence with a water-based paint gives you the best of both worlds. The most common exterior wood paint is acrylic, a water-based paint that creates some of the boldest colours. You also have a choice of sheen levels, important to consider for shady or sunny gardens.
WOODSTAIN & PROTECT FENCE PAINT is one of our most versatile paint products, perfect for use on sheds, doors, wooden furniture, and, of course, fences. Light-colored fence paint, like white, off-white, or light grey, can make a garden look bigger by reflecting light and creating a sense of openness. These colors help to visually expand the space and make the garden feel brighter and more airy.
Whats the best colour to paint a fence?
A classic garden fence colour is green. This is easy on the eye, naturally blends in, and is always on-trend. Recommended products are: Dark Green, Sage Green or Willow. For a rustic look, brown can work perfectly with other natural elements in the garden such as wood and stone. Popular products are: Light Grey, Chestnut or Dark Brown. An energising choice, red or yellow can be great for making a statement in the garden! Other popular paints are Black, Slate Grey and Golden Brown.

Fence stain is more forgiving than fence paint – it may not require primer, and you don't have to work so hard to get a uniform colour. If you have a textured or rough-hewn fence style, stain will work much better than paint. It enhances raw wood's natural beauty and texture. Fence stain also has the benefit of being sprayable, hweras fence paints usually require a brush application.
Usually, it is not recommended to attempt to paint a fence when temperatures are below freezing. This is because, if the freshly painted fence freezes, then the paint's drying and curing processes can be compromised.
How much fence paint do I need?
A 5-litre tin of fence paint will typically cover around 10 fence panels with one coat. This is based on a coverage rate of approximately 30 square meters per 5 litres, assuming standard sized fence panels. However, the exact number of panels covered can vary depending on the type of paint, the condition and type of wood, and the number of coats applied.
How the paint the fence quickly
To paint a fence quickly, use a paint sprayer for large areas, or a combination of a roller and brush for smaller fences. For larger fences, a sprayer can cover the area quickly and efficiently, while a brush and roller combination allows for more control and precision on smaller fences
Is one coat of Fence Paint enough?
Normally two coats of Woodstain & Protect are sufficient although an extra coat may be required when applying a light shade over a dark finish or where exposure conditions are severe.
