Wood Paint

Choosing the right wood paint
Acrylic paint can be applied to both treated and untreated wood surfaces. However, keep in mind that treated wood may have a smoother or sealed surface, which can affect paint adhesion. It's recommended to sand the surface lightly or use a primer to ensure proper adhesion.
Acrylic paints can all be used to transform your interior and exterior wood surfaces. Whether you're after a matte, glossy, mid-sheen or satin finish, or even a modern gold effect, our interior and exterior wood paints are inexpensive and offer great results.

Why Choose Natural & Sustainable Low VOC Paints, Wood Oils & Stains.
The more eco and sustainable exterior wood paints and outdoor wood stains have been historically dominated by linseed type paints and more traditional slow drying oils, so modern chemical paints have been a common choice due to fast drying chemical solvents, which is practical but just not good for yourself or the environment.
Modern natural paints and wood stains such as the selection below are the new breed, fast drying than before, and as hard wearing but without the toxic footprint. Protek, are leaders in 'clean' alternatives but actually perform like their chemical laden 'competitors'.
More and more people are searching for a eco friendly alternatives to the 'big brands', so we're glad you've found us.

Wood Paints v's Wood Stains
When choosing between wood paint and wood stain, stain is generally considered the better option for exterior timber as it penetrates deeper into the wood. This provides better long-term protection, requiring less maintenance, and allows the natural wood grain to show through. Paint on the other hand sits on the surface, may peel over time, and can hide the wood's natural beauty; however, paint offers more color options and might be a better choice if you want a dramatic color change and don't mind more frequent reapplication.

Key differences:
Penetration:
Appearance:
Stain absorbs into the wood, while paint sits on the surface.
Stain allows the natural wood grain to show through, while paint completely covers it.
Maintenance:
Durability:
Stain generally requires less frequent reapplication compared to paint.
Both can be durable if properly applied, but stain is often considered more resistant to peeling and cracking.
